Abstract:

Data obtained by thermocouples in the end zones of a plain tube bundle with a 90° layout angle are analyzed. The analysis has shown that for a horizontal baffle cut (baffle cut orientation perpendicular to the nozzle axis) the end zones are fully effective. However, for a vertical baffle cut, effectiveness is less and is also a function of the type of heat transfer process. It is more effective in cooling than heating. The proposed values for the end zone effectiveness are tested against the available data.
