Abstract:

HTRI originally developed a Circulation Boiling Model (CBM) for kettle reboilers using data for round bundles. This article discusses application of the CBM to flat bundles, including equations for calculating the static driving head and the maximum heat flux in flat bundles. Parametric studies reveal how removing tuberows to create flat bundles affects the total bundle flow rate and the critical heat flux.
