Our research technicians built a motorized traverse to acquire more data in a shorter amount of time. This video shows a traverse with two bridges, suspended above the finned tube bundle and moving synchronously across the outlet face of an air-cooler. Each bridge has six clusters of instruments that record data measurements. The equally spaced instrument clusters include a thermocouple, pressure probes, and an anemometer.
High-resolution measurements of temperature, pressure, and velocity can aid in the understanding and mitigation of performance issues in the field. We also use these data points to develop correlations that are later incorporated in Xace®, which helps users to better design air coolers and predict their performance.
