Careers - Senior Heat Transfer Specialist

HTRI seeks an individual to provide end-user technical support and consulting services to members and to help coordinate global technical support. In addition, this individual will help ensure that software methods reflect actual user experience, as well as perform engineering analysis for method changes. This position is based in the United Kingdom (UK).

Principal Responsibilities

  • Technical support. Respond to technical inquiries related to HTRI software and methods; evaluate user cases. Provide technical assistance to customers and HTRI staff. Evaluate all technical inquiries to identify areas of interest/uncertainties. Prepare technical documentation including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Application Notes, Known Issues, and TechTips.
  • Engineering studies. Perform project studies on complex inquiries that complement HTRI's technical program. Contribute to projects related to these inquiries. Evaluate field data against software results.
  • Training and marketing. Provide both internal and external training to familiarize users with HTRI products and technical support services. Prepare and review training and marketing materials as requested by the supervisor,  the Training manager, or the Marketing manager. (Training and marketing materials consist of webinars, brown bags, tutorials, articles for trade journals/marketing, and conference presentations and/or poster sessions.)
  • Research-to-software. Evaluate software methods as implemented and described in research reports. Verify and validate calculations and/or output reports for users, including the main thermal and hydraulic parameters of cases. Identify and recommend software corrections. Prepare and review work items as needed. Identify areas of uncertainty in HTRI methods that impact process plant operations and heat exchanger design. Recommend solutions. Working with the software development and research staff, author text on the impact of software method changes on industry cases.
  • Proprietary contracts. Take the lead or serve as secondary reviewer for contract thermal ratings and design reviews. (As a consulting service, HTRI performs contract thermal ratings and design reviews, all of which require a secondary reviewer.)
  • Sales. Provide technical sales support to Regional Sales Manager, EMEA. 

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering OR seven years of technical support experience at HTRI or relevant industry experience with HTRI software
  • Detailed knowledge of HTRI methods and software
  • Good organizational and strong multi-tasking skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Preferred but not essential

  • Chartered Engineer 
  • Experience with troubleshooting heat transfer–related problems

Individual must already have authorization to work in the UK without visa sponsorship and to travel in Europe and the US without securing a visa.
