AC-16 First Adaptation of Stream Analysis Method for Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers

A new Stream Analysis Method option is available in Xace® 6 to model flow bypassing in air-cooled heat exchangers with larger gaps at the edge of the bundle than those required by the API 661/ISO 13706-1:2005 standard. The heat transfer and pressure drop of the bundle can be less than predicted when no bypassing is assumed. This report describes modifications made to adapt the HTRI Stream Analysis Method for use in rectangular bundles handled by Xace so that flow bypassing is more accurately modeled.
