Abstract:

After reviewing published methods and our previous method for condensation of superheated vapors, HTRI proposes a new model based on the Nusselt-type condensation thin-film theory for the wet-wall desuperheating heat transfer coefficient. With this approach, the heat transfer coefficient for condensation with wet-wall desuperheating is determined by vapor and condensate physical properties, tube geometry, temperature differences between the saturation and the wall, and bulk and wall temperatures. This theory-based method applies to condensation of superheated vapors for pure components and mixtures and gives better, more consistent results than the previous method.
