New flow loop on the Pipe Flow Loop unit simulates two-phase flow in fired heaters:
HTRI has constructed a transparent serpentine flow loop on the Pipe Flow Loop rig to simulate two-phase flow in fired heaters. Visualization of developing two-phase flow phenomena and pressure drop measurements will be used to improve the modeling of fired heater piping in HTRI Xfh®.
The Pipe Flow Loop helps HTRI researchers study two-phase flow regimes in large diameter piping in upflow, horizontal flow, and downflow. It is one of 11 industrially relevant test units used at the HTRI Research & Technology Center (RTC) in Navasota, TX, USA.
This serpentine flow loop is used to simulate two-phase flow in fired heaters.
