Impact of Recent HTRI Research Workshop  (US$450)

Instructors: Tom Lestina and David Frankum

Many members learn about the impact of HTRI research only when new software is released and HTRI Xchanger Suite predictions change. We developed this workshop so that our members can learn about research developments before software is revised. This short course highlights recent developments in the HTRI research program and demonstrates their impact through case studies, including

    • a feed effluent heat exchanger with shellside phase separation
    • light hydrocarbon reboiler with drywall boiling
    • kettle reboiler with vapor holdup
    • flow maldistribution in an air cooler

Come and learn the latest HTRI guidelines and update your understanding of our research program.

    Key Topics

Progress in these research areas will be discussed:

    • air-cooler studies
    • stream analysis
    • pressure drop and flow regimes in large pipes
    • kettle reboilers
    • thermosiphon operation
    • tubeside falling film evaporation
    • vacuum shellside condensation

    Suggested Participants

HTRI members who are interested in learning the latest HTRI guidelines and how HTRI research impacts the results given in Xchanger Suite

    Thermosiphon Reboilers Short Course  (US$650)

Instructors: Tom Lestina and David Frankum

This short course is dedicated to the discussion of thermosiphon reboilers. While working through four checklists (vertical tubeside, vertical shellside, horizontal tubeside, and horizontal shellside) developed by HTRI’s Engineering Services team, you will learn more about HTRI guidelines, recommendations and the use of Xist to investigate design issues in thermosiphon reboilers.

Heat Exchanger Design and Costing Short Course  (US$650)

Instructors: Tom Lestina and David Frankum

If you design, specify, or troubleshoot heat exchangers, then this course is for you! Focused on issues that EPCs and processors face, this short course will discuss the importance of heat exchanger economics and use Exchanger Optimizer, a heat exchanger costing tool, to help you evaluate your exchanger designs from a total cost of ownership perspective. Hands-on and using industry-based case studies, you will discuss important design aspects and their impact on cost.
